Everyone deserves the chance to feel valued, heard, and understood.

Maybe you’re overwhelmed and you’ve noticed the stress is too much to handle alone. Others normally lean on you, but you need someone to lean on. The little things don’t feel so small right now. You’ve noticed that the stuff of life bumps into old emotions you can’t explain. You’ve tried many things to help yourself through and the usual coping just isn’t working like it normally would. It’s time to find your way back.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a deep brain/body, relational therapy that is based on the idea, “where you look affects how you feel”. The use of eye placement allows access to the areas in the brain where memories are stored, and where regulation can take place.

With the presence of a trained, attuned therapist you can address the “stuck” places in your growth to move from survival to homeostasis, to restoration.

Over the years, Heather has developed a personal stylistic approach that is person-centered, curious, compassionate, and flexible. In session, she follows the lead of the client, addressing the greatest concerns and supplying tools and resources as needed.

Professional counseling found Heather over twenty years ago. As a college student, Heather was passionate about people, their emotions, and meaningful relationships. The study of human development and family dynamics grew this passion, which led to pursuit of formal counselor education. Following graduate school, Heather began her career working with teens and families disrupted through abuse and neglect, and involvement in the foster care system. Soon following, Heather gained foundational experience in community mental health, where she was mentored by dedicated and intentional professionals to care for those in deepest need.

Heather earned a Master of Science in Community Counseling (CACREP accredited) from Eastern Illinois University in December 2001. She has over 20 years of experience working with a broad range of clinical needs including mood, anxiety and personality disorders, and has served Hendricks County and surrounding areas for more than 15 years.
